Abstract
The peace agreement signed between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Rwanda on June 27, 2025, in Washington represents a significant diplomatic milestone aimed at stabilizing the region. This paper examines whether this accord constitutes a genuine step toward lasting peace and regional stability or if it remains a symbolic gesture with limited practical impact. Through analysis of the agreement‘s content, regional political dynamics, and historical context, the study evaluates the potential for tangible improvements in bilateral relations and conflict resolution. The findings suggest that while the agreement signals a positive diplomatic shift, its success largely depends on the implementation of concrete measures and sustained commitment from both parties. Ultimately, the agreement‘s effectiveness as a peace-building tool will be determined by its ability to translate diplomatic promises into lasting peace and security in the region.
